This year, with Covid-19, Christmas will be different but it doesn’t mean Christmas is cancelled! At the Church of the Good Shepherd we are planning lots of differnt activities to make this a Christmas to remember for something good, something that can bring Comfort and Joy to everyone in Crookhorn.

Let’s Light up Crookhorn this Christmas

We at the Church of the Good Shepherd would like to invite the community to join in with lighting up Crookhorn this Christmas by creating an Advent Calendar trail around the parish.

We’d like 24 homes & businesses in Crookhorn (one for each day in December) to decorate and light up their windows to bring us cheer in a Covid safe way.

The theme for our Advent windows will be Christmas Carols & Songs. A different window will be lit at 6pm every evening. And just like any other Advent calendar where the doors remain open, the first windows will remain lit for subsequent nights. (So the one lit on 1st December will be lit every day from 1st to 6th January and the one on the 2nd every day from 2nd – 6th etc.)  By 24th December we will have a whole trail of windows for families to visit going into the New Year. We will produce a map of all the windows and a competition for families to guess the Christmas Carol or song represented in the window.

You can be as inventive as you like – lights, music, anything which makes it festive.

To volunteer to decorate a window, contact Janette Smith: vicar@cogs.org.uk or ring the church office: 07726550169. When you contact us you will get to choose your carol and the day you wish to light up on a first come first served basis. Closing date for applications: Sunday 15th November.
